Three people were taken into custody for drug charges in the Town of Pine River Tuesday afternoon. K9 Poncho alerted to the odor of illegal drugs in a vehicle on STH 64 after deputies responded to a medical emergency. A search turned up a large quantity of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A 48-year old Hayward woman was arrested for possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, and possession of a narcotic drug. A 27-year old Hayward man was arrested for possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, possession of a narcotic drug, three counts of bail jumping, probation violation, and a warrant through the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear on a charge of possession of heroin with intent to deliver. A 29-year old Hayward woman was also arrested for possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, possession of a narcotic drug and two counts of child neglect.
A 28-year old Tomahawk man was arrested Wednesday evening following a traffic stop in the City of Tomahawk. The driver displayed signs of impairment and as a result of field sobriety tests was arrested for a second offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. An enhancer was added to the offense as the suspect was driving with a two year old child in the vehicle.
Traffic on US Hwy 51 was slowed for over an hour Friday in the Town of Pine River after a two vehicle crash. No one was injured but one vehicle was disabled in the lane of traffic requiring deputies to partially shut the highway down.
A 34-year old Baraboo man was injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday in the Town of Bradley. At 1:00 p.m. a cell 911 call reported the crash on County Rd S at Herb Mitchell Rd. The Baraboo man was traveling north on County Rd S when the vehicle in front of him made a U-turn in the middle of the highway causing the motorcyclist to strike the rear of the boat trailer. The driver of the second vehicle, a 62-year old Irma man was not injured.
There were three deer crashes last week.
