Now is the common time of year for people to use fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July and other summer gatherings. According to the State of Wisconsin law, in order to use fireworks that leave the ground or explode you must have a permit. The permits are only issued by mayors and town chairpersons. If you plan on having a celebration in Lincoln County that involves the use of regulated fireworks you must obtain a permit from the town chairperson and we ask that you provide a copy of that permit to the Sheriff’s Office at least a day in advance. In the past, the mayors of Merrill and Tomahawk do not issue permits for fireworks.
